Course Objective:
Improve students foundation necessary for success in high school math courses. This course is double blocked as an extention of Algebra 1.
Please see me if you will have problems getting any of the required supplies. You will need to bring all of these items to class every day! At times, I will take a grade on whether or not you have these items as part of your participation grade.
Grading Policy and Class information:
Because RTI and Algebra 1 is going to be taught as one extended class with intervention tools and progress monitoring,
students will receive a pass/fail grade only for RTI.
Students will be graded on the following:
Daily Assignments:
Students will work on an in class assignment every day. This is to be completed in class. Daily assignments may be graded based on participation and/or quality of work. He/she will also be assigned a short review assignment (1/2 page or so) every day to complete at home. This will be part of their Algebra 1 grade.
Participation, Notes, and Attendance:
Students participate in class discussion, activities and is active in daily lessons. Student comes prepared to class with all necessary materials and keeps a positive attitude.
ALEKS:
Students will work on a computer program to help improve their math skills. This portion of their grade will be based on improvement on topics and concepts covered as well as quality time spent working in the program. Students will be given topic goals for the week as well as time goals for the week. If a student is absent, he/she is still responsible for reaching this goal. They may work on ALEKS program at home and/or before or after school if needed.
