As per the student handbook, if a student has an excused absence from school, they have one day for each absence to complete missed assignment(s). If you know that you will be absent, please contact the office or myself so that I can prepare absent work in advance. If homework is not completed on time, they will receive half credit for each assignment up until the current school week; after which, the assignment will become a
0
and may not be made up. For example, if a student misses an assignment on Wednesday, they have until Friday of that week to hand in the assignment.
Tests/Quizzes:
TTests and quizzes make up a large portion of their grade (75%(Alg 1) /85%Alg II). If a student misses a test or quiz they may make up their test/quiz before school, after school or during a study hall but
not
during class. As per school guidelines, the student has one day for each missed, excused day to make up their test or quiz. Any student who has an unexcused absence may only make up their test at Saturday detention.
Binder
Each student is expected to keep a binder specifically for this class. Binders must be at least one-inch width. I would recommend at least inches thick because of the amount of packets that will be passed out each term. Along with the binder, each student must also include five dividers for the class. The binders are graded every chapter based on organization, neatness, and includes all pertinent materials. Your student is expected to bring their binder to class everyday.
Homework will not be checked if it is not organized in his/her binder. In this case, the homework assignment will be late.
Cheating:
As per school guidelines, cheating is a major offense. By cheating, students do not learn the material properly and do not get enough practice. If I feel that there is cheating of any kind taking place, both parties will receive a 0 on the assignment and will not be able to redo it. Along with this, the parent(s) or guardian(s) will be contacted.
Water/Food:
No food or drink is allowed in the classroom. Unless stated otherwise from the school nurse or administration.
Classroom rules and expectations:
Remember the Acronym RAP as the philosophy of the classroom:

I have high expectations for my classes and I know that each of my students have the ability to learn and enjoy learning if they wish to keep the class well maintained. All rules and expectations are subject to the teacher’s discretion.
Consequences
1st: Warning
2nd: Points deducted from participation and owed time after school (teacher detention)
3rd: Dismissed from class to the hall, all participation points for the day lost,
4th: referral to either principle or guidance
It is the teacher’s discretion to determine the seriousness of the offense. Some steps may be skipped if the offense is deemed significant enough.
***Offensive language at any step on the consequence list will add an extra 10 minutes of time after school and/or automatic referral to Mr. Farrell depending on the language.
I’m looking forward to having your son/daughter in my class this year and I sincerely hope that we have a wonderful and productive semester. With your cooperation and support, I feel that we can help your student succeed this year.
